Cast Iron Plant
Aspidistra elatior
The Cast Iron Plant earned its name honestly: it will survive low light, irregular watering, temperature swings, dust, and neglect that would finish off almost anything else. The large, glossy, dark green leaves grow slowly but last for decades, and the plant itself can outlive the furniture it sits next to. If you want a virtually indestructible houseplant that looks sophisticated doing nothing, this is it.
