Encyclopedia Botannica is a free plant encyclopedia and care guide, built and maintained out of Columbus, Ohio.

The idea started the way most plant projects do: one Monstera turned into five, five turned into a shelf, and the shelf turned into "I should probably figure out what I'm actually doing." Turns out most of the advice online is either wrong, vague, or clearly written by someone who has never kept a plant alive through an Ohio winter.

So this site exists to fix that. Every care guide comes from firsthand growing experience. If a plant is fussy, we'll tell you exactly how. If the internet's conventional wisdom is wrong about something, we'll call it out. And if we don't know the answer, we say so.

The encyclopedia is the product. The shop is secondary. We sell plants we propagate ourselves, and we recommend products we actually use. That's the whole business model.
